NID DAT 2023 B.Des Seat Allotment Announced

The National Institute of Design (NID) has announced Round I seat allotment for the B.Des program on May 25, 2023. In the log-in window that opens, enter your email id and date of birth. The seat allotment is based on factors like the merit rank of the candidate in NID 2023, availability of seats, campus opted, and category. Note that submission of campus preferences is open from May 19-22, 2023.

Candidates who have been allotted seats need to 1) pay the 1st-semester tuition fee and confirm seats and 2) upload documents by May 31, 2023. The seat acceptance fee for the B.Des program is INR. 30,000 for Indians, and INR. 75,000 for overseas candidates and has to be paid online.

Earlier, the National Institute of Design announced seat allotment of NID 2023 for the M.Des program on May 18, 2023.

The 1st-semester tuition fee is INR 2,13,500, which includes a non-refundable token fee of INR 30,000 and convenience charges.

Note that the DAT Mains results for the B.Des and M.Des programs will be declared on May 18, 2023

Campus Preference for B.Des Admission

When viewing the NID DAT 2023 results for the B.Des, the candidate will be asked to submit campus preferences. The candidate has to submit campus preferences from May 19 (4 pm) to May 22 (12 pm). The entries must be in the order of priority.

The candidate will be able to select campuses before the last date. The candidate can edit the selection multiple times before the last date.

If the candidate doesn’t submit any campus preferences before the last date, the candidate will be disqualified and will not be considered for admission to the B.Des program. Further, the candidate will be offered to the next candidate in the order of merit.

NID 2023 Counselling Procedure

The step-wise process of NID DAT 2023 counseling is explained below:

Step 1: Viewing of FINAL Results

After the final NID DAT 2023 results are declared, the candidate needs to log in to the result portal and check their qualifying status.

Only such candidates who qualify in the NID DAT exam are eligible to participate in NID counseling 2023.

Step 2: Submission of Campus Preference (only for B.Des applicants)

B.Des candidates need to submit the choice of campuses. In case the candidate doesn’t submit their choices, he or she will be disqualified and not be considered for admission for the current session. Choose campuses in the order of priority.

The candidate will be asked to make campus selection based on:

• The availability of seats

• NID DAT 2023 merit rank.

• Note: M.Des candidates aren’t required to submit campus preferences.

Step 3: Seat Allocation

The allotment of seats will be done considering seat intake, merit rank of applicants, campus preferences opted, and category.

Once a seat has been allocated, the candidate has to confirm their seats by:

Paying the relevant non-refundable seat-acceptance fee.

Uploading essential documents

a) Payment of non-refundable seat-confirmation fees

INR 30,000 (online payment) + convenience fees (as applicable) for General, Gen EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD candidates

INR 75,000 (online payment) + convenience fees (as applicable) for Overseas candidates

b) Uploading of documents

The following documents are required to be uploaded as a single PDF file with a maximum file size of 10 MB:

• A valid photo ID (Aadhaar Card, Election ID, PAN Card, Driving License or Passport)

• Birth Certificate OR School Leaving Certificate

• Gen-EWS/ OBC-NCL/ ST/ ST Certificate (if applicable)

• PwD Certificate (if applicable)

• Passport (if applied under the Supernumerary category)

• Class 10 Marksheet

• Class 12 Marksheet

Important Notes:

If the Class 12 marks sheet has not been issued, a digital copy of the same duly attested by the school principal must be uploaded. Candidates whose results are pending must provide a genuine certificate issued by the school principal, explicitly stating the Roll No. And projected date of announcement of results.

For those candidates who finished their Class 12 (or equivalent) final examinations outside of India or from a Board not listed in the Admission Handbook, they must submit an equivalent certificate.

Candidates who do not pay the non-refundable token fees within the period specified above will have their provisional seat allocations canceled. In order of merit, that seat will be given to the next qualified candidate.

Candidates who fail to provide the required documents within the designated period, even after paying, will have their provisional seat allocation canceled. The seat will subsequently be assigned in order of merit to the next qualifying candidate.

Even after the seat confirmation, the candidate will stand a chance to participate in other rounds of counseling for which he/she will have to submit their willingness to do so.

Step 4: Document Verification

All the documents uploaded by the candidates will be cross-checked against the information provided at the time of online registration. If any discrepancy is found, the candidate will be disqualified.

Step 5: Issue of Provisional Offer Letter for Admission

Upon verification of documents, the candidate will be issued Provisional Offer Letters of Admission. The candidate has to next pay the NIDs directly; payment-related information will be communicated to the candidate.
