Delhi University Registration for Undergraduate admissions will begin on 2nd August and continue till 31st August. Eligibility criteria and registration fees for both merit and entrance-based admissions this year will remain unchanged, the university said in a statement.

DU had earlier notified that admission registrations will most likely begin on July 15 but it got postponed to August. The registration process of the 65,000 seats for undergraduate courses at DU colleges starts on August 2 and is likely to announce the first cut-off list between September 7 and 10, acting vice-chancellor P C Joshi announced on Saturday.

Delhi University authorities Saturday confirmed that admissions to its undergraduate courses for academic session 2021-22 will take place through cut-offs based on merit, like in previous years.

Like last year, the admission process will be completely online — from registration to fee payment. DU had earlier said it would most likely conduct admissions through a cut-off list, but that it was also “committed to implementing” the Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) if it begins this year. The CUCET has now been ruled out this year.

He said the change in criteria for evaluation by the CBSE is not likely to delay the announcement of DU’s cut-offs, as their process “will remain the same”.

As Class XII Board exams could not be held due to the pandemic, CBSE will calculate results using the ratio of 40:30:30 for students’ performance in classes XII, XI, and X.

Gupta said that keeping in mind the convenience of students due to the “unprecedented pandemic situation”, the eligibility criteria and fee structure will remain the same as last year”.

“The University has also decided that there will be no change in the registration fees for merit-based and entrance-based admissions. Centralized UG admissions will be done through one registration-cum-application form. All departments/colleges will use the same registration-cum-application form for admissions and candidates will not have to fill any other form,” he said.

Like last year, sports and extracurricular activities (ECA) admissions will also be conducted completely online and based on certificates rather than trials.

UGC has directed all colleges to complete the admission process for undergraduate and postgraduate courses by September 30. The classes for the first semester will begin on or before October 1. Hence, it is expected that the undergraduate classes in the university colleges will begin by October 1.

The university is planning to launch tutorials and webinars to help students in the online admission process. Computer-based Help Desks in the form of Chat-Bots and emails will also be available 24*7 to answer queries of the candidates. Announcements regarding the tutorials and webinars will be published on the university website in due course of time.
