Board Exams 2021: Check schedule of Exams all States that have postponed 10th and 12th Exams
Amid a massive surge in COVID-19 cases, keeping in mind the safety of students and teachers, several states including Chhattisgarh, Punjab and Maharashtra have postponed Class 10 and Class 12 board exams.
After a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of Education has decided to postpone the class 12 exams and cancel the class 10 board exams. For CBSE class 12 boards, the situation will be reviewed on June 1 and revised dates will be announced thereafter. Class 10 board results will be prepared on the basis of the objective criterion developed by the board. Class 12 students will be given a fresh date sheet before the beginning of the papers.
The union education minister urged other state boards to cancel or postpone the Board Exams in their states.
In 2020, a total of 12,03,595 students registered for the CBSE Board Class 12 examination 2020 out of which 11,92,961 appeared in exams of whom 10,59,080 students passed the Class 12 board exams.
In 2019, a total of 12,18,393 students registered for class 12 exams out of which 12,05,484 appeared in exams of 10,05,427 passed class 12 board exams.
The largest number of students who appeared on the board is from Uttar Pradesh i.e. 26 lakh students followed by 10.9 lakhs in CBSE. Approximately 1.43 crores students appeared for different annual examinations/boards conducted by national or state-level authorities.

LATEST UPDATES ABOUT STATE BOARDS:
ICSE and ISC
The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on April 16 postponed Class 10 (ICSE) and Class 12 (ISC) board exams 2021 in the wake of spiraling COVID-19 cases across the country. The exams were earlier scheduled to start from May 4, the statement said that new dates will be announced in the first week of June.
On 19th April, CISCE announced that Class 10 Board Examinations will be canceled instead of being postponed. CISCE had earlier given students the option of sitting for the exam at a later date. Those who didn’t choose to appear for the exam would have been evaluated on a “fair and unbiased” criterion, the board had said Friday. This decision now stands withdrawn.
The CISCE exams, last year too, had been canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic, and the students were evaluated based on ‘internal assessment’.
Maharashtra:
Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad while announcing the postponement of board exams said: “Keeping in mind the schedule of entrance exams for professional courses, Class 12th exams will be held by end of May, while 10th standard exams will be in June. We're closely monitoring the health situation. Fresh dates for these exams will be announced accordingly.”
On 21st April, Maharashtra Board Exams for Class 10 were canceled. The 10th board exams, originally scheduled in February-March, had earlier been postponed to April and then to early June.
Maharashtra Government has already postponed the class 10th and 12th board exams that were scheduled to begin from April 23 for class 12th and of Class 10th from April 30. The class 12th exams are likely to be held by the end of May while the class 10th exams will be held in June.
Punjab:
Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has released the revised Class 10 and Class 12 date sheets on its official website pseb.ac.in. The PSEB Class 10 exams have been canceled and Class 12 exams have been postponed due to the rising COVID-19 cases in the state.
Chhattisgarh:
Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel-led government in the state on Sunday decided to cancel upcoming Class 10 Board Exams 2021. The secondary (class 10) exam was scheduled to be held from April 15 to May 1, said Chhattisgarh Board CGBSE, adding that the decision has been taken due to a surge in coronavirus cases. The CGBSE, however, has not mentioned any change in schedule for the senior secondary (class 12) exams which are scheduled to start on May 3 and end on 24. The CGBSE said that the new dates of Class 10 exams will be announced later.
Chhatisgarh government has also postponed the class 10th and 12th board exams of the state. The CGBSE class 10th, 12th board exams 2021 were scheduled to begin in mid-April. The exam has been postponed in view of COVID-19. However, the CGBSE has not notified the revised schedule yet.
Uttar Pradesh:
The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has revised the board exam dates for Class 10 and Class 12 final exams. According to the revised UP board timetable 2021, Class 10 final exams will be held between May 8 and May 25, 2021, in two shifts. The morning shift exams will be conducted from 8 am to 11:15 pm and afternoon shift exams will be held from 2 pm to 5:15 pm.
UP Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma, who also holds the portfolio of secondary education, indicated that the state is yet to decide whether it will go ahead with the board exams scheduled from May 8. "For the conduct of board examinations, there are 19 officials, of which 17 are infected with COVID, and are in hospital.”As soon as they recover from the illness, we will hold consultations, and also speak to the chief minister. Then we will be able to say anything in the context of exams beginning on May 8," Sharma said.
Meghalaya
Meghalaya state board class 12 examinations will be held as per schedule with utmost precaution to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said on Wednesday.
He said the state government has directed the authorities concerned to ensure strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols. The class 12 examinations of the Meghalaya state board will be held as per schedule but with utmost precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19," Tynsong told reporters after a review meeting here
Himachal Pradesh
Himachal Pradesh Board has also postponed the class 10th, 12th and undergraduate exams to May 17, in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"In view of increasing #COVID19 cases in the state, it has been decided to postpone the Class X, Class XII and Under Graduate examinations to May 17, 2021: Department of Education, Himachal Pradesh," an official statement reads.
Andhra Pradesh
The examinations of Class 10th and Intermediate will be conducted as per the schedule: Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh. Andhra Pradesh Education Dept has issued a schedule for the conduct of exams for the 10th class in June and exams for Intermediate in May.
Tamil Nadu
In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, Tamil Nadu Board exams have also been postponed. "This will prevent the congregation of students. We've had episodes of COVID infection in 14 schools in Thanjavur Dist. Here, we are focusing on micro-containment & canceling non-essential activity," Tamil Nadu Health Secretary said.
Rajasthan
Rajasthan government has decided to postpone the RBSE class 10th and 12th board exams 2021 in view of the rising number of COVID cases in the state. Rajasthan Board of Secondary Examination (RBSE) had scheduled to conduct the class 10th and 12th board exams from May 9. The RBSE 10th and 12th exams have been postponed for now. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday announced the postponement of class 10th and 12th board exams in view of COVID-19.
Madhya Pradesh
In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, Madhya Pradesh Board exams for class 10th and 12th have been postponed. The MP board exams 2021 were supposed to begin from April 30 for Class 10th students and for Class 12th from May 1. The exams have been postponed to June.
West Bengal
West Bengal Education Minister said an appropriate decision will be taken giving priority to the health of students. The exams are scheduled to start in June "The government will certainly make a decision in the interest of students at the appropriate time considering the COVID-19 situation," he told reporters.
Karnataka
Karnataka State Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar said the state government has not taken any decision on canceling. In a statement, he said no decision like the CBSE has been taken. However, keeping in view the situation in the future, an appropriate decision would be taken, the Minister was quoted as saying in the statement. Karnataka was among the few states, which had last year successfully conducted the 10th class and second-year pre-university exams even when the coronavirus cases were at their peak.
Jammu and Kashmir
Jammu and Kashmir School Education Board have canceled the remaining JKBOSE Class 10 board exams. Class 10 students will be promoted on the basis of internal assessment and their performance in the board exams that have already been conducted. The Class 10 board exams were scheduled to take place in April.
Odisha
"In view of the surge in COVID-19 cases, the Class 10 examination conducted by BSE, Odisha scheduled to be held from May 3, 2021, has been canceled," announced School and Mass Education Minister S R Dash. The results will be published based on an objective criterion to be developed by the BSE, Odisha, the minister said. "Any candidate, who will not be satisfied with the marks awarded to him/her on this basis will be given a chance to appear for an examination only after an improvement in the COVID-19 pandemic situation," the minister said.
International Baccalaureate (IB) Board
After the CBSE, the International Baccalaureate (IB) Board on Wednesday came forward to announce the cancellation of examination of its various programs in view of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the country. The announcement was made after a detailed conversation with the schools, associations, and education boards under the IB.
In a message addressed to the heads and coordinators of schools, the body wrote, "Following continued conversations with our schools, associations and education boards, the IB can confirm that all IB school in India will follow the non-examination route for the Diploma Programme, Career-related Programme and the Alternative task for the Middle Years Programme."
