The NIFT Entrance Exam 2022 or National Institute of Fashion Technology Entrance Exam 2022 will be conducted by the National Institute of Fashion Technology for admissions into its 17 campuses in the various Undergraduate courses like B. Des or Bachelor of Design and B. FTech or Bachelor of Fashion Technology and various Post Graduate courses in Fashion Design.

Here we are mainly covering only the Undergraduate courses offered at all the campuses of NIFT after class 12th or its equivalent through the NIFT Entrance Examination.

In the NIFT Entrance Exam 2022 there will be two tests conducted for the B. Des programme namely CAT or Creative Ability Test and GAT or General Ability Test whereas for the B. FTech course only GAT or General Ability Test will be conducted.

On the basis of result of GAT and CAT, shortlisted candidates for the B. Des programme will be called for the next test called the Situation Test.

For the B. FTech programme the GAT serves as the final test for selection.

The NIFT Entrance Exam 2022 written examinations for the B. Des and B. FTech courses will be conducted in First week of February, 2022

NIFT Entrance Exam Application Form 2022:  The NIFT Entrance Exam Application Form 2022 will be available for online registration from the 2nd week of December 2021. The Application Form will be made available online on the NIFT official website: www.nift.ac.in .

The NIFT Entrance Exam Application Form 2022 or the NIFT Application Form 2022 will be available online till the 3rd week of January 2022 without Late fees and till the 4th week of January 2022 with late fee.

The window for editing the NIFT Application Form 2022 will be in the last week of January 2022.

The NIFT Entrance Exam Application Form 2022 can be submitted as follows:

Submission of the application form (for all candidates other than the foreign national/SAARC/NRI/ OCI category):

Candidates can apply online at www.nift.ac.in or https://admission.net/nift2022. The prospectus will be available at the NIFT website: www.nift.ac.in free of cost.

The application fee has to be paid through an online payment gateway or through Bank Demand Draft issued in favor of “NIFT HO” payable at New Delhi.

• Non-Refundable Fee for General/OBC (Non-Creamy)/EWS Category: Rs.2000/- through payment gateway or Demand Draft.

• Non-Refundable Fee for SC/ ST/ PWD Category: Rs.1000/- through payment gateway or Demand Draft.

Mode of Payment of application fee: Credit Cards/Debit Cards and Demand Draft

(A) Credit Cards /Debit Cards Payments of application fee (Rs.2000/- or Rs.1000/-) can be made through credit cards/debit cards as explained above. The bank and/or transaction charges on the application fee will be borne by the candidate. Candidates are advised to apply on time.

(B) Demand Draft Payment of application fee (Rs 2000/-in case of GEN/OBC (Non-Creamy)/ GEN-EWS candidates and Rs 1000/- in case of SC/ST/PWD- candidates) can be made through Bank Demand Draft as explained above. The Demand Draft should be issued in favor of “NIFT HO”, payable at New Delhi. The details of the Demand Draft are to be filled in the online application form.

Candidates are advised to check the following details carefully before sending the Demand Draft

• DD made in favor of “NIFT HO”,

• Amount of Demand Draft as applicable i.e. Rs 2000/- in case of GEN/OBC (Non-Creamy)/ GEN-EWS candidates and Rs.1000/- in case of SC/ST/PWD candidates

• Name, Date, Amount & Signature of the issuing authority on the Demand Draft.

Candidates applying through Demand Draft are required to send the printout of the Application Form, duly completed in all respects, along with Demand Draft on the following address: The Project Manager – CMS All India Management Association (AIMA) 15 Link Road, Lajpat Nagar – Part 3 New Delhi -110024 The duly filled form should reach the above address on time. Incomplete forms or forms received late will not be accepted. Candidates are advised to keep a copy of the printout and Demand Draft for future reference. Candidates are advised to keep a printout/photocopy of the Application Form for further reference along with proof of payment.

Window to edit/ update Application Form Prior to making the payment candidate can edit/amend the information in the online application: Once the payment has been made by the candidate, he/she will not be allowed to change/ modify any information by the system. However, candidates will be given an opportunity to review and correct their personal information (changing the City of Examination is not permitted) at a later date close to the examination or release of admit card.

The application fee already paid will not be refunded in case the application is found not eligible for admissions to NIFT after editing/updating the application form.

It is the sole responsibility of the candidate to provide correct information during the application process. At any stage, if it is found that the information provided by the candidate is not true, NIFT has the right to cancel his/her candidature. Any direct or indirect attempt to influence the management and employees of the institute will lead to the automatic disqualification of the candidate.

After closing the window to edit the application form/registration category filled up in the application form will not be changed at any stage. Therefore, candidates/guardians have been advised to fill up the application form with due diligence.

Eligibility

NIFT Entrance Exam Eligibility Criteria 2022: The NIFT Eligibility Criteria 2022 is necessary for students to read before doing registration for the examination.

The Eligibility Criteria is important for any examination because even if a candidate does not fulfill a single criterion of the eligibility criteria declared for the examination then the candidate is not allowed to appear for the examination or even after appearing for the examination and clearing the same the admission through the examination stands canceled or void.

Age Limit:

  • The maximum age should be 23 years as of 1st October 2021.
  • The upper age limit may be relaxed by a period of 5 (five) years for candidates of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/ Person with Disability (PWD) categories

Candidate must have passed class 12th of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education / State Board New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi.

Important Points:

Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply provided:

  1. That they produce proof of having acquired the minimum prescribed qualifications at the time of counseling/ admission.

  1. If the 12th class/final year/final semester (as the case may be) result of qualifying degree/certificate examination is not declared by the concerned Board/ University till the date of counseling/ admission, his/her admission in such case will be strictly provisional subject to the following conditions:

 

  • Affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper of Rs.10/- is submitted. In case the candidate is a minor i.e. below 18 years of age, the affidavit shall be signed by his/ her parent/guardian. Candidates/parents/guardians may note that submission of a false affidavit is a punishable offense.
  • Those candidates who are seeking provisional admission due to non-declaration of their final year/final semester/12th class will provide proof of having passed all papers in all the previous year’s /semesters of qualifying degree examination (whichever relevant).
  • The candidates will also bring the date sheet /admit card/ Principal’s certificate as proof of having appeared in the qualifying exam.
  • Students will have to submit the final result of the qualifying exam before September 30, 2022.
  • In the case of candidates who have appeared for compartment examination(s) in the 12th standard, such candidates will be considered only for provisional admission. He/she will have to clear the compartment examination UNDER THE SAME BOARD, failing which the provisional admission will stand automatically canceled and the entire fee will be forfeited.

  • Selected candidates for B. Des from the written entrance examination are required to take a Situation Test which is a hands-on test to evaluate the candidate’s skills for material handling and innovative ability in a given situation with a given set of materials.

Students must go through the Participating Colleges and their seat distribution before filling up their choices for admissions in the counseling procedure. NIFT Entrance Exam Admit Card 2022: The NIFT Entrance Exam Admit Card 2022 or NIFT Entrance Exam Hall Ticket 2022 will be available for download from 1st February 2022 on the official website of NIFT: www.nift.ac.in .

The NIFT Admit Card 2022 can be downloaded from the above website by the candidates by entering the Email address, DOB, and six-digit application number.

The Admit Card usually contains the details of the Exam Centre, Test time, Personal Details of the Candidate like Photograph, Date of Birth and other important information including the Instructions to be followed by the candidate at the exam center before, after, and during the Entrance Examination.

How to download the NIFT Admit card:

Step 1: Visit the official website nift.ac.in

Step 2: Check the announcements tab and click on “Admit Card for written examination”

Step 3: Enter the NIFT application number, date of birth, and email ID. Then submit.

Step 4: The admit card will appear on the screen, download it.

 

The Admit Card is an important document and must be carefully kept by the candidates as it is necessary to produce at the Exam centre while appearing for the Entrance Examination and without the same, the Candidate is not allowed to enter the exam hall to appear for the entrance examination.

NIFT 2021 entrance exam will be conducted for admission into 16 NIFT campuses offering various design courses. It is three-tiered in its format for Bachelor of Design and Master of Design course admissions. As part of the entrance test, candidates have to first appear for the Creative Ability Test (CAT) which is followed by a General Ability Test (GAT). The final admission round for the Bachelor of Design course is a Situation Test and for the Master of Design course is GD/PI round. On the other hand, for Bachelor of Fashion Technology course admissions candidates have to take the GAT exam only whereas for Master of Fashion Tech and MFM programs, candidates have to appear for GAT and GD/PI admission round. Both the exams will be conducted in offline mode. NIFT CAT will be a two-hour long paper and NIFT GAT will be a three-hour-long paper.

In 2020, around 23,000 students took the NIFT entrance exam to secure admission in UG and PG courses offered by the design school. 

 

NIFT Result 2022: The NIFT Result 2022 will be published online on the NIFT website: www.nift.ac.in. The Result will be declared online and can be viewed by the candidates by entering the Email address, DOB, and six-digit application number.

For B.F.Tech., the Entrance exam is the final criteria for admission.

For B. Des, the entrance exam weightage is 80% i.e., CAT – 50% & GAT – 30%, if the candidate qualifies for the entrance exam then the candidate goes for the second test i.e., Situation Test – 20%.

Then, the final merit will be prepared after the completion of all the processes.

NIFT 2022 Results will be published in two stages- written result and final result. NIFT 2022 Written Results for CAT and GAT will be declared in the month of March 2022 for all courses. Those who clear the written test will be called for the Situation Test and GDPI based on the NIFT Selection Process of different programs.

Then, the final merit will be prepared after the completion of all the processes.

How to Check NIFT Result 2022?

NIFT result mentions subject-wise scores obtained by candidates in CAT and GAT. Candidates qualifying GAT and CAT for the B. Design program will be called for Situation Test and GD/PI. The final Result and Merit List will be prepared after taking all the scores into consideration. Candidates can check their results by following the steps mentioned below.

  1. Go to the official website of NIFT, i.e. nift.ac.in.
  2. Click on “NIFT 2022 Results”.
  3. The following screen appears after clicking on NIFT 2022 Result Link 
  4. Enter NIFT Roll number, Date of Birth, and Application number.
  5. Click on the Proceed/log in button.
  6. The result will be displayed on your screen, verify all the details present in it.
  7. Take the printout for future purposes.

Admission Counselling

NIFT Counselling Procedure 2022:  The NIFT Counselling Procedure 2022 or the NIFT seat allotment procedure 2022 for the B. Des and B. FTech courses will start immediately after the NIFT Entrance Exam Result 2022 is declared on the NIFT official website: www.nift.ac.in .

On the basis of the Result of CAT and GAT, shortlisted candidates for the B. Des program are called for the Situation Test.

For B. FTech the GAT serves as the final test for admissions.

Situation Test (For B. Des Programmes):

Shortlisted candidates for B. Des from the written entrance examination are required to take a Situation Test which is a hands-on test to evaluate the candidate’s skills for material handling and innovative ability in a given situation with a given set of materials.

No additional material will be provided/allowed. The model will be evaluated on space visualization, innovative and creative use of given material, the composition of elements, color scheme, construction skill, the finesse of the model and overall presentation, etc.

These parameters will be checked with the write-up explaining the concept behind the model constructed. Since the medium of instruction in NIFT is English, the write-up will be in English. No marks will be given for write-up in any other language. The use of outside/additional material in making the model/design is not permitted.

Also, candidates who try to disclose their identity by writing any personal details or place any identification mark on the model/ design/write-up shall be considered ‘DISQUALIFIED’ and the final result of these candidates shall not be declared. The evaluation of the test will be done by the Jury on the spot.

The model will not be preserved for future reference.

After the Situation Test is completed and the final merit list is prepared based upon the basis of CAT, GAT, and Situation Test for B. Des and on the basis of GAT for B. FTech the counseling schedule for the admissions will be released online on the NIFT Official website: www.nift.ac.in and the Online registration for the NIFT Counselling 2022 will begin.

 

The NIFT Entrance Exam Counselling Procedure 2022 or NIFT Counselling Procedure 2022 is as follows:

  • There is a total of Two Rounds of Counselling: Round 1 and Round 2 respectively.
  • The Counselling is done for admissions in the 17 campuses of NIFT or the National Institute of Fashion Technology.
  • For Round 1 the candidates do not need to pay any registration fee.
  • Online Registration for the NIFT Counselling 2022 can be done at the NIFT Official Website: www.nift.ac.in .
  • To complete the registration for the NIFT counseling 2022, students need to enter the requisite information such as form number, date of birth, and password. Students need to choose a counseling campus where they have to report for the NIFT counseling process. After successful registration, candidates will receive a system-generated letter from the authorities through SMS and an email on their registered mobile number and email id.
  • Candidates allotted a seat in Round 1 can choose to either withdraw or accept the allocated seat and pay the admission fee at the respective NIFT Campus.
  • If the candidates have taken admission once and then withdraw then they will not be considered for admission in Round 2.
  • The process for seat allotment in Round 2 is the same as Round 1, the seats that remain vacant after Round 1 will be allocated in Round 2.
  • Withdrawal of Admission after admission and refund of fee:
    1. A candidate, who has taken admission once and then withdraws, will not be considered for admission during subsequent rounds of counseling.
    2. In case the candidate is seeking a refund before the commencement of the academic session, the request for withdrawal of admission in the prescribed proforma may be submitted to the Director of the Campus where the candidate attended the counseling. After commencement of the academic session, a refund request may be submitted to the Director of the Campus allotted to the candidate. The candidates will be required to surrender the original Admission Receipt issued at the time of Counselling/Admission while applying for withdrawal of admission. Requests for withdrawal of admission would not be entertained without original admission receipts.

3. Advisory: The admitted candidates who are not willing to join the allotted campus/programme are advised to submit their withdrawal on or before the transfer of vacant seats for Round 2 in their own interest and in the interest of other applicants and NIFT.

 

  • Documents Required for Admission:

The following documents along with the photocopies shall be required for Admission after qualifying for the entrance examination. The original certificates, except the medical certificate, will be returned to the candidate after verification.

 

  1. Original certificates of qualifying examination i.e. 12th class/ degree (marks Sheet and Certificate).
  2. In case the candidate has appeared for the qualifying exam/ compartment (of final year/semester) and the result is due, the date sheet /admit card for examination has to be brought.
  3. Bank Draft(s) of requisite fee in favor of “NIFT HO” has to be bought. The name of the candidate, date of counseling, phone/ mobile no., name of the program, Category, Rank, and Roll Number is to be mentioned at the back of Bank Draft(s).
  4. Proof of date of birth (Secondary School Mark Sheet & Certificate) (Original and Photocopy). 
  5. SC/ST/OBC - Non-Creamy/PWD/GEN-EWS (supported with requisite Certificate). For State Domicile seats the status of domicile will be decided by the address of school/college (qualifying degree) last attended, whichever applicable.
  6. Basis of funding of the tuition fee/ certificate of the parent’s income e.g Income Tax Return of 2021-21, Salary Certificate of March’2022, etc.
  7. Certificate of Medical Fitness to be signed by a Registered Medical Practitioner in the prescribed format in original.
  8. Affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper of Rs.10/- for seeking provisional admission only in case, the result of the qualifying examination is yet to be declared.
  9. An undertaking regarding Anti-Ragging (Annexure-II)
  10. An undertaking regarding the refund of fee (Annexure-IV)

Note: - In case any of the above document(s) is/are in any language other than Hindi/ English, then as the authentic translation in English/Hindi should be produced duly verified by the issuing institution/ gazetted officer / Self-attested (original and photocopy) by the candidate at the time of Counselling /Admission. Failure on the part of the candidate to produce the requisite authentic translation may result in refusal of admission.

After the NIFT Entrance Exam Counselling Procedure is completed or the NIFT Counselling is completed the orientation program at the different NIFT Campuses for the finally selected candidates is conducted and the new session begins.
