IMU CET 2021: The IMU CET 2021 or Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test 2021 will be conducted by the Indian Maritime University or IMU for Admissions into various undergraduate and postgraduate courses at IMU, its Affiliated Institutes and Institutes affiliated to any other Universities to all pre-sea courses approved by DG Shipping.

Here we are only covering the Undergraduate Courses after 12th through which admissions are based on IMU CET Result.

The IMU CET will be a 3 hours duration Test of a total of 200 Questions.

The IMU CET 2021 will be conducted tentatively in the 1st or 2nd week of May 2021 and the application for the same is expected to start from the 1st week of February 2021.

IMU CET Application Form 2021:  The IMU CET Application Form 2021 will be available tentatively from the 1st week of February 2021, and is expected to be available till the last week of March, 2021.

The IMU CET Application Form 2021 will be available only in the Online Mode on the IMU CET official website: https://www.imu.edu.in/

The IMU CET 2021 Application Form Fee will be as follows:

  • INR 1000 for General/OBC-NCL Candidates
  • INR 700 for SC/ST Candidates

The IMU CET Application Form 2021 online registration details are as follows:

The registration process is divided into two parts:

  1. Basic Registration - This is for generating the Application Number and password.
  2. Detailed Registration- This has two steps:
  1. Making the Online Payment: Candidates have to make the online payment before the Last date for making Online Payment towards Registration Fees.
  2. Capturing further details on Personal Information, Academic Details, and Document upload. Only those who have completed Basic Registration and made Online Payment towards Registration Fees will be allowed to complete Detailed Registration.

N.B.: Basic Registration does not mean the candidate has successfully submitted the Application Form. Only after completing the Detailed Registration, the Application Form submission is completed successfully. On successful submission, the Candidate will get an email to their registered email address stating the same. The Candidate can download the successfully completed Application form for their reference and record. Please note that fields marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory in the Registration Form.

After the 'Basic Registration', the system will generate and display the CET Application Number and password, which will also be communicated to the Candidate by Email and SMS.

For subsequent logins, use this system-generated Application Number as 'User ID' and create a new password.

Under 'Detailed Registration', after successful Online Payment, you will have to fill up additional details such as Address for Correspondence, Educational Details, Preferred Choice of Exam Cities, etc., followed by uploading of relevant scanned documents.

After successful completion of the Detailed Registration, the submitted Registration Form will be available for download. You are requested to take a print out of the same for future reference.

Please note that the Service Charges / Payment Gateway Charges for making the Online Payment Transaction are to be borne by the candidate only.

In case, for UG Programme admissions, if the Class 12th/UG Degree Exam results are awaited at the time of Online Registration, the candidate may choose the 'Awaiting Results' option.

Candidates shall upload the following documents at the time of Detailed Registration:

  • Scanned copy of the passport size photograph (Recent photo with Candidate Name and Date of Photo Graph mentioned at bottom of photo must be uploaded. The photograph should be taken on or after 01.01.2021, failing which it will be considered as Impersonation. Size of the photograph between 20 kb to 60 kb
  • Scanned copy of the signature of the candidate. Size between 10kb to 30kb · Scanned copy of 10th Standard Mark Sheet or equivalent in support of Date of Birth. Size between 60kb to 1mb
  • Scanned copy of 12th Standard Mark Sheet (wherever applicable). Size between 60kb to 1mb
  • Scanned copy of UG Degree Certificate (wherever applicable). Size between 60kb to 1mb
  • Scanned copy of PG Degree Certificate (wherever applicable). Size between 60kb to 1mb
  • Community Certificate in respect of SC/ST/OBC (NCL) candidates. Size between 60kb to 1mb
  • Economically Weaker Section Certificate (for General-EWS Candidates). Size between 60kb to 1mb · Domicile Certificate for Candidates from Special States (applicable for UG Programmes). Size between 60kb to 1mb
  • Scanned copy of relevant Certificate of Competency (applicable to Mariners). Size between 60kb to 1mb
  • Candidates need not submit any hard copy of the application to IMU.
  • Candidates who have registered online for the “For all UG Programmes (except BBA)", and if they are interested in admissions to the BBA (Logistics, Retailing, and ECommerce) program, then they will have to register separately in the link provided for BBA and must pay the Registration Fee for both.
  • Notwithstanding the fact that a candidate's Online Registration may have been successful, if any inadequacies or discrepancies or false claims are detected in the documents uploaded at the time of the Online Registration and/or in the original documents produced, if any, subsequently and/or in the Original documents produced at the time of verification, IMU/Affiliated Colleges/MTIs reserves the right to disqualify the candidate from admission.
  • Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidates.
  • Legal disputes, if any, shall lie within the jurisdiction of Courts based in Chennai city only.

Before filling the IMU CET Application Form 2021 the candidates must read carefully the information brochure to check details like eligibility, exam pattern, reservation criteria and more.

Eligibility

IMU CET ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA 2021: The IMU CET Eligibility Criteria 2021 is necessary for students to read before doing registration for the examination.

The Eligibility Criteria is important for any examination because even if a candidate does not fulfill a single criterion of the eligibility criteria declared for the examination then the candidate is not allowed to appear for the examination or even after appearing for the examination and clearing the same the admission through the examination stands canceled or void.

The IMU CET Eligibility Criteria 2021 in detail are as follows: 

Age Limit:

  • The candidate should not be less than 17 years and not more than 25 years.
  • For Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe, Candidates maximum age relaxation is for 5 years.
  • The maximum age limit for candidates belonging to the Non-creamy layer of the "Other Backward Classes" (OBC) Category shall be relaxed by 3 Years.
  • The maximum age limit for female candidates of each Category shall be relaxed by additional 2 years.

Note: Candidates seeking admissions to UG Programmes are strongly recommended to have a Passport and the name in the Passport should be the same as given in the 10th Std. Certificate.

  • Candidate need to secure at least 60% average in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and 50% marks in English subject in 10th or 12th Examination.

 

  • For SC/ST, marks relaxation is 5% only in PCM.

 

Note: Relaxation of 5% in English marks will be applicable to candidates who are native of the Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and belongs to their Scheduled Tribes and who & both of whose parents were born in those islands & belong to the Scheduled Tribes of those islands.

B. Tech (Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering)

  • There is the reservation of seats in U.G courses in IMU Campuses for students from Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and Minicoy Islands, Eight North Eastern States (including Sikkim), and Jammu & Kashmir.
  • The maximum number of seats reserved for the Special States in all IMU Campuses are as follows:

Andaman and Nicobar Islands: 20 seats

Lakshadweep and Minicoy Islands: 10 seats

Eight North Eastern States (including Sikkim): 40 seats

Jammu and Kashmir: 10 seats

Note: The allocation of seats for candidates from the above mentioned ‘Special Status’, will be done after publication of the Second List based on the residual seats.

Physical fitness:

Candidates must be physically fit for 2 Marine Programmes:

  • (ii) B.Sc (Nautical Science)
  • (iii) B.Tech (Marine Engineering)

Candidates should meet the medical requirements as specified by the Director-General of Shipping, Mumbai, and are required to produce a certificate of medical fitness from a Doctor approved by the Director-General of Shipping.

EyeSight:

  • The EyeSight requirements are specified by the Directorate General of Shipping.
  • All the candidates must meet these requirements and will have to produce certificate of eye sight from a Doctor approved by Director General of Shipping and hearing as prescribed in the Merchant Shipping (Medical Examination) Rules' 2000' as amended.

 

 

Note:

  • Candidates seeking admission to the Non-Marine Programmes – B. Tech (Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering), B.Sc (Ship Building & Repair) degree courses will have to submit a Physical Fitness Certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner.
  • Candidates must make themselves satisfied that they are eligible for admission. No Fee (non-refundable category) will be refunded on account of medical ineligibility.

 

List of Qualifying Examination:

  • The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/State Board, such as CBSE, ISCE, etc.
  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
  • Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services wing of the National Defence Academy.
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/ Cambridge/ Srilanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
  • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
  • H.S.C vocational examination.
  • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
  • Any Public School/Board/University examination in India or in any foreign country recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

Photograph:

  • The photograph taken may contain the name and date of the photo taken. The photo should have been taken on or after 01.01.2020, failing which, it may be considered as IMPERSONATION.
  • The photograph taken may contain the name and date (in DD/MM/YYYY format) of the photo, at the bottom section of the photograph.

  • Click on the Download Hall ticket link.
  • Enter the login and Password
  • Admit Card will be displayed on the screen and check all the details.
  • Download and Print the IMU CET Admit Card 2021

Automated e-mails/SMS will be sent to every registered applicant on successful registration of Application, uploading of Hall Ticket, the publication of results, etc.

Candidate should be reached at the Test Venue at least 2 hours before the time of commencement of the CET.

The Admit Card is an important document and must be carefully kept by the candidates as it is necessary to produce at the Exam centre while appearing for the Entrance Examination and without the same, the Candidate is not allowed to enter the exam hall to appear for the entrance examination.

The Admit Card usually contains the details of the Exam Centre, Personal Details of the Candidate like Name and Date of Birth and other important information including the Instructions.

Admission Counselling

IMU CET Counselling Procedure 2021:  The IMU CET Counselling Procedure 2021 will begin after the IMU CET Result 2021 is declared.

The IMU CET Counselling Procedure will be conducted based on the Rank of Candidates in IMU CET 2021.

The IMU CET Counselling Procedure in detail will be as follows:

Step 1 - Registration

Firstly, the candidates will have to go to the official website of IMU CET 2021 and click on the counseling registration link. Counseling fee of Rs. 10,000 has to be paid by the candidates through online mode (net banking/credit card/debit card).

Step 2 - Choice Filling

After registration, the candidates will have to choose their preferred programme and campus in online mode. The selection has to be done in the order of preference. The candidates are advised to select as many options as possible to have a higher chance of allotment.

Step 3 - Seat Allotment

Candidates will be allotted into the participating campuses on the basis of merit, preferences and availability of seats. The social category of the candidates will also be considered. To confirm the allotment, the candidates will have to pay Rs. 25000 (non-refundable).

Step 4 - Document Verification

Finally, the candidates will have to download their provisional allotment letter and report to their respective allotted institute. All of the required documents will be verified by the authorities to confirm the admission.
