Medical and Dental:

Medical: For many years the medical profession has been one of the most respectable professions in the society. With the development of society the importance of this profession has gone up to many folds and even in the present it is one of the most respected and high earning professions in India as well as abroad.

A student can enter Medical Education in India after 10+2 or its equivalent if he/she has taken Physics, Chemistry and Biology in 10+2 or its equivalent.

Governing Body: NMC or National Medical Commission is now the governing body for Medical Education in India. So any college or university providing medical courses must be recognized by NMC. It has replaced MCI or Medical Council of India which was dissolved in 2018 by the parliament.

Courses Offered:  The medical education course in India after 10+2 is MBBS or Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. The course duration of MBBS is 5 years and 6 months including full time course as well as internship.

Other than this there are various allied courses other than MBBS like BAMS (Ayurvedic), BUMS (Unani), BHMS (Homeopathy) etc. which are not considered as reputed as MBBS.

 

Entrance Examination:  

  • NEET: To pursue Medical Education in India there is only a single examination now through which all medical colleges of the country take admissions the examination is called – NEET or National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test conducted by the NTA or National Testing Agency every year.

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admissions in the MBBS/BDS and other Medical and allied courses all over India.

The Counselling for successful candidates under 15% All India Quota seats and all seats of Deemed Universities/Central Universities/Seats of ESIC & AFMC including Delhi University (DU), BHU, AMU, AIIMS & JIPMER will be conducted by the MCC/DGHS for Undergraduate Medical Courses.

The counselling for admission to the seats under the control of other States/Universities/Institutions shall be conducted as per the notifications issued separately by the authorities concerned.
