Drama and Performing Arts is the branch of Arts which deals with showcasing creativity in various beautiful Art forms it includes Acting, Music, Dance, Singing, Painting, Films etc.

 Eligibility:

Subject Requirements: Students from any subject stream can enter into Drama and Performing Arts courses.

Age Limit: Students must check specific age limit requirements for various colleges and universities and entrance examinations for taking admissions.

Educational Qualification: 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognized board or university.

Marks Requirement:  For particular Colleges and Universities and Entrance Examinations there can be different marks requirements in specific subjects or aggregate marks in 10+2 or equivalent.

Courses:  The Bachelor of Arts in various fields like Music, Arts and Drama or BPA (Bachelor of Performing Arts) or B.F.A (Bachelor of Fine Arts) are the courses offered in Performance arts in India. The Performance arts courses offered are mainly in three fields of Entertainment namely: Music, Dance and Drama or Acting. These are courses for duration 3 years and 6 semesters courses respectively.

Major Entrance Examinations:

BHU UET: The Banaras Hindu University Undergraduate Entrance Test or BHU UET is conducted for the B.P.A courses offered in different fields and various other courses offered at various faculties and departments at Banaras Hindu University for students who have passed class 12th or its equivalent.

The B.P.A course at BHU is offered in the following fields:

  • Instrumental Violin
  • Instrumental Tabla
  • Dance-Kathak
  • Dance-Bharat Natyam
  • Vocal

This is one of the most important entrance exams and universities in India.

Most of the admissions in India in the Drama and Performing Arts courses or BA/B.P.A are given directly on the basis of marks obtained in class 12th or its equivalent and also on the basis of talent examination conducted at university/institute level.
