In India, a student can become a teacher after their graduation by pursuing a 2-year Bachelors in Education course. However, after the new changes made by the HRD ministry, students can pursue a 4-year integrated course like Bachelor of Arts B. Ed, Bachelor of Commerce B. Ed, or Bachelor of Science B. Ed right after completing 10+2.
For Bachelor of Science B. Ed courses, candidates seeking admission to Physical Science Group must have passed with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) and those seeking admission to Biological Science Group must have passed Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) at +2 level. On the contrary, students from any stream are eligible for taking admission in Bachelor of Arts B. Ed and Bachelor of Commerce B. Ed.
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) conducts Common Entrance Examination (CEE) in order to provide admission to candidates in teaching courses offered at Prarambh and Regional Institutes of Education (RIEs) located at Ajmer, Bhubaneswar, Bhopal, Mysore, and Shillong. A minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of 10+2 or any equivalent qualifying examination are required of all of these courses and entrance exams.
