STEP Oberoi Admissions 2021 – Everything you need to know

Oberoi STEP or Oberoi Systematic Training and Education Programme is a three-year hospitality management job training programme offered by Oberoi Group of Hotels at Oberoi Centre for Learning and Development (OCLD) along with a correspondence Bachelor's Degree in Tourism Studies from IGNOU. Candidates who want to apply for admission in this program need to fill the Oberoi STEP application form released by the OCLD (Oberoi Centre for Learning and Development).

The application process for 2021 has been temporarily paused due to the sudden surge in Covid-19 infections. OCLD (Oberoi Centre for Learning and Development) releases the Oberoi STEP application form for all the programmes in the month of October/ February, each year.

Admission Procedure

To get selected for admission within the programs which are offered at Oberoi STEP, applicants don’t get to appear for any written exams. Applicants just got to clear the interview round for the selection.

After the interview round, candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the interview round. The result of Oberoi STEP will be sent to the selected candidates on their registered email address. Candidates can also select the venue for the interview and the date of the interview.

SELECTION PROCESS Timeline

STEP Oberoi Interview Rounds

The Oberoi STEP interview has three rounds. Candidates can check the details for the three rounds for Oberoi STEP below:

Round 1:

In this round, candidates are divided into groups of 15-20 candidates each. All the groups will have to perform the activities and tasks provided to them. This round will test the communication skills and presentation skills of the candidates.

Round 2:

Candidates who have cleared the first round will be shortlisted for the second round. Shortlisted candidates will have to appear before a panel consisting of faculty members wherein a one-on-one meeting is held. In this round, candidates will be evaluated based on the personality, behavior, and knowledge about hospitality. 

Round 3:

Those who clear Round 1 and Round 2 will be called for the interview round. Candidates will have to appear for another set of activities. The panel will conduct the interview. It should be noted that the interview may be conducted on a different day as well as against Round 1 and Round 2. In this round, candidates will be evaluated on the basis of their behavior, skill set, knowledge, and personality. 

 Courses offered:

• Hotel Operations Programme - Front Office and Food & Beverage Service
• Hotel Operations Programme - Housekeeping
• Hotel Operations Programme - Kitchen

The duration of the programmes is 3 years.

ELIGIBILITY

The programme will commence in mid-August.

• Candidates should be above 18 and below 20 years of age, as of 15th August, of the year of joining the Programme.
• Passed Class 12 on 1st July from a Board recognized by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), India.
• The programmes require a Class X English score of 70% or above. The equivalent in CBSE is a B2 Grade or a 7 Grade Point or above.

BENEFITS of the course

• In keeping with The Oberoi Group's philosophy of training and developing its people, The Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development invests time, effort, and money in candidates selected for the three-year STEP Programme.
• Selected candidates will be enrolled into the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) - Bachelor of Tourism Studies.
• This investment includes all expenses on IGNOU course fee and books, accommodation, duty meals, transportation, medical insurance, and uniforms. Selected candidates are paid a monthly allowance during the training period.
• The programme includes a dedicated study day once a week; three weeks of study leave to take IGNOU exams and three weeks of annual leave.
• On successful completion of the STEP Programme, trainees will receive a Bachelor of Tourism Studies degree from IGNOU and a Certificate of Proficiency from The Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development.

The programme prepares candidates to join The Oberoi Group as Operations Assistant at our hotels.
