NEST Eligibility Criteria 2021: The NEST Eligibility Criteria 2021 is necessary for students to read before doing registration for the examination.

The Eligibility Criteria is important for any examination because even if a candidate does not fulfill a single criterion of the eligibility criteria declared for the examination then the candidate is not allowed to appear for the examination or even after appearing for the examination and clearing the same the admission through the examination stands cancelled or void.

The NEST Eligibility Criteria 2021 in detail are as follows: 

Age Limit

  • For General and OBC category, candidates must have been born on or after August 01, 2001.
  • For SC/ ST/ Divyangjan candidates, age relaxation is 5 years

Qualification

  • Candidate must have passed class 12th or its equivalent from any recognized Board / University.
  • Candidates who must have passed the 12th standard in 2019, 2020, or appearing in 2021 are eligible to apply.

Minimum Marks Requirement

  • Candidate must have secured at least 60% marks in aggregate (or equivalent grade) in Class XII examination from any recognized Board in India
  • For SC/ST/Divyangjan candidates, marks relaxation is 5%.

Important Points:

  • In each section, for certain questions there will be negative marking for incorrect answers. There is no negative marking for not answering the question
  • Some questions may have one or more correct answers for which marks can only be earned by marking all correct answers and no wrong answer. 
  • Merit list for both the institutes is prepared using the best 3 scores out of the four sections and the section with the worst score is omitted

Students must go through the Participating Colleges and their seat distribution before filling up their choices for admissions in the counselling procedure. The candidate has a clear idea about the chances of getting admissions through this entrance examination after reading about the participating colleges in detail.

The Participating Colleges in any Entrance Exam also reflect the importance of that examination in a great manner as more important the participating colleges in an examination the more important that entrance examination becomes.

So, students must go through the Participating Colleges while applying for any entrance examination and do a thorough research about the quality of those participating colleges in the entrance examination.

Note: 5% of seats are reserved in every category, i.e., General, OBC–NCL, SC and ST for persons with disabilities (Divyangjan). Leprosy–cured candidates who are otherwise fit to pursue the course are also included in this sub–category
