NEET Topper Interview 2021: Meet Karthika G. Nair AIR I

Karthika G Nair scored 720/720 in NEET 2021 and secured an AIR I in the medical entrance exam taken by over 15 lakh candidates across India and abroad. Karthika is also the state topper of Maharashtra and the highest scorer among female candidates. A student of DAV Panvel, Karthika aspires to study in AIIMS Delhi.

Here are the excerpts from the Interview:

Harshita: Congratulations Karthika on achieving this feat, During the preparation did NEET AIR 1 & scoring 720/720 marks ever came across your mind ?

Karthika: Well, AIR 1 and 720 marks were my target which kept me going, but I had never imagined that I could actually achieve it

Harshita:  : The COVID pandemic affect your exam preparation in any way? How did you manage your study during the lockdown ?

Karthika: Things were quite difficult in the beginning when the classes went online. Because it was something totally different..but eventually I could adjust to the new normal with some additional effort..and also..because of the lockdown ..I got a lot of extra time for preparation.

Harshita: After accomplishing such a great achievement , what next big things you dream to achieve in your life?

Karthika: My dream is to be of use to the society by rendering my services to humanity. for this I would take admission in AIIMS, Delhi for my further studies.

Harshita: What motivated you to choose medicine as a career? When did you decide to become a doctor?

Karthika: Ever since I knew what a doctor was. I had always wanted to become one. Because it is best profession as per me..It is doctors who render their services to keep all of us going.

Harshita: Was this your first attempt at NEET ? When did you start preparing for the  entrance exam and what strategies you used in particular for your preparation?

Karthika: Yes, I had attempted NEET for the first time..I had started preparing when I came to class XI ..in the year 2019..I had relied on NCERT books for my preparation ...and I had practised a lot of questions ..which helped me manage time effectively during the Exam.

Harshita: Choosing the right Books and Preparation material have always been a concern for many students preparing for NEET.  So according to you which are some of the best books for preparation that you recommend for NEET  for each of the 3 sections and overall preparation ?

Karthika: I had relied solely on NCERT books and the modules provided by my coaching institute..I had not used any other Reference book for my preperation..I had used NCERT Exemplar for Biology.

Harshita: What advice would you like to give the future NEET aspirants & share with us the strategies you used to stay motivated in your exam days.

Karthika:  It is important to attend all your classes with a lot of sincerity ..and it is also important not to skip any tests..practise a lot of mock tests. Never lose your confidence..because this is just the first step in your career ..there is a lot ahead..

Harshita: What is the ideal time to start taking mock Tests & What role do  mock tests play in NEET Preparation? What was your strategies in particular towards mock tests?

Karthika: Mock tests play a central role in one's preparation because you can work out your strategies by practising mock tests.

Practice as many tests as you can..because they are extremely important..Start taking mock tests at least 2 months prior to the exam..and try to attempt one test per day.
