In exams like the National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology Joint Entrance Examination or more commonly referred to as the NCHM JEE, students either learn every bit of information in the book or focus on the topics that matter. Knowledge of section-wise important topics for NCHM JEE is essential and important for a good result. The NCHM JEE would focus on evaluating the comprehension and reasoning skills and abilities of candidates. Overall, it is designed to be a test of aptitude and skills that are necessary for a career in hospitality rather than prior knowledge, though prior knowledge occasionally may be useful to respond to questions in the Current Affairs section.

The NCHM JEE shall be a 3-hour test, with 200 multiple-choice questions carrying 4 marks each. There shall be a negative marking of 1 mark for every wrong answer. These questions would be divided across the following 5 subjects:

Numerical Ability and Analytical Aptitude

NCHMCT JEE Numerical Ability and Analytical Aptitude section will comprise 30 questions. Candidates must go through the NCERT textbooks of Class 9 and 10 to build a solid base. A good grasp of topics such as compound interest, simple interest, profit & loss, averages, percentages, number system, time–spend distance, and geometry will be beneficial for students.

English Language

The NCHMCT JEE 2021 English language section will comprise 60 questions. Candidates must develop good reading skills along with good vocabulary; grammar skills will successfully secure good marks in this section.

The candidates can practice reading skills by going through newspapers and good magazines regularly. In order to polish your vocabulary and grammar skills, read the newspaper daily. Pay attention to spellings and note down the new words for better grasp in order to enhance your vocabulary. 

The English section of the NCHMC JEE exam consists of Reading Comprehension and Vocabulary questions. The Reading Comprehension passage is followed by 4-5 questions.

Regular practice and efficiency are a must to score the maximum marks in this section. Students must revise grammar rules and concepts. They should also develop a habit of reading and should solve two passages on daily basis.

General Knowledge & Current Events

The General Knowledge and Current Events section will carry 30 questions. The candidates must possess a sound knowledge of sports events, important awards, geography, and history to score well in this section.

The candidates must also be well aware of recent happenings at the global level with the help of the newspapers and magazines. Additionally attempting many GK quizzes will also be immensely helpful. Awareness of recent happenings that occurred nationally as well as internationally is a very important aspect. Candidates must update their knowledge about Persons, Places, awards, Authors, Economy, Science and Technology, Sports, etc.

Aptitude for Service Sector

There will be a total of 50 questions in the Aptitude for Service Sector and it will mainly evaluate the candidate’s interpersonal skills. After the English language section, this is the section that carries higher marks. Due to the graded marking system in this section, the candidates must enter a response which they feel will be suitable.

In this section, you are tested more on your personal judgments. You will be given a situation and the options which you have to mark accordingly. Questions will be based on the hospitality sector so you must have a sound knowledge of the domain. Reading hospitality magazines like Outlook Traveller, Destination India can come to your rescue.

The Aptitude for Service Sector section had questions related to the hotel industry and its services. This is an easy section of the exam as there is no wrong answer in this section, but the only thing worth paying attention to here is that there is graded marking in this section. Therefore if you are not sure of the answer then you should mark the option which you feel most likely to be correct.

Some of the frequently asked questions in this section were:

  • How would you react if you see a person who has met with an accident?
  • How would you make a decision if you were working at different posts (like Manager, Housekeeping, and Receptionist) in the hospitality industry?
  • How would you react if a customer misbehaved with you?
  • How would make a disabled person comfortable?

NCHM JEE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA 2021: The NCHM JEE Eligibility Criteria 2021 is necessary for students to read before doing registration for the examination.

The Eligibility Criteria is important for any examination because even if a candidate does not fulfill a single criterion of the eligibility criteria declared for the examination then the candidate is not allowed to appear for the examination or even after appearing for the examination and clearing the same the admission through the examination stands canceled or void.

 

The NCHM JEE Eligibility Criteria 2021 in detail are as follows:

  • Upper age limits 25 years as of 01.07.2021.
  • Candidates must be born on or after July 01, 1996.

SC and ST

  • The upper age limit is 28 years as of 01.07.2021.
  • Candidates must be born on or after July 01, 1993.

Physically Challenged

  • The upper age limit for Physically Challenged candidates shall be reckoned as per the category he/she belongs to i.e. General/EWS/SC/ST/OBC.
  • Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/Pre-University Certificate shall be the authentic proof that will be accepted.

 

Nationality

The candidate must be an Indian Citizen.

Qualification

  • Candidate must have passed or appeared in class 12th or equivalent from any recognized board.
  • The candidate must have passed English as a subject of study (core/elective/functional) in the qualifying examination.

Physical Fitness

  • All qualified candidates will have to submit a physical fitness certificate of carrying out practical claims as required in the course at the time of admission from a Registered Medical Practitioner

 

QUALIFYING EXAMINATIONS FOR INDIAN STUDENTS:

  • Plus two level examination in the 10+2 pattern of Senior Secondary education of any recognized Central/State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education and Council for Indian School Certificate Examination or State Boards of Secondary Education.
  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
  • High School Certificate Examination of Cambridge University.
  • Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or a foreign country recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 pattern of Senior Secondary education.
  • H.S.C. Vocational Examination approved by NCVT and SCVT of the concerned state.
  • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects including English as one of the Subjects, result of which should be available up to 30.09.2020.
