IHM-A Admission Procedure includes Online Profiling, Statement of Purpose and Group Discussion, and a personal interview. Candidates are required to apply online directly on the IHM-A website.

Institute of Hotel Management (IHM-A), Aurangabad will conduct the IHM Aurangabad entrance process will begin May 2021 in online mode. To apply for the entrance exam, candidates have to register themselves and fill the application form online, along with payment of an application fee. The fee of IHM Aurangabad application form is Rs. 1500.

How to apply?

  • Fill in all the required details about the candidate, his/her family, educational information, and other details.
  • Upload a scanned picture and signature to verify oneself.
  • A unique ID will be produced after successful registration by the candidate.

The last date to apply for the IHM Aurangabad 2021 entrance test will be tentatively in the last week of May.

Online Profiling Assessment

Once the payment is done, the electronic profiling assessment will be sent to the registered email address. Candidates can click on the link and take the test. The result can be viewed immediately on the screen post-completion.

After clearing the test, candidates have to appear for rounds namely- group discussion, writing a statement of purpose, and personal interview. They will be required to carry a hard copy of this assessment report for verification before proceeding with the next steps.

Statement of Purpose

Students will be required to write a 1500 word Statement of Purpose – about their perspective on the role this education at IHM-A would play in shaping their future.

The following dress code must be adhered to:

Ladies – formal attire – saris or business suits preferred – formal ensembles or a full-sleeved shirt, scarves, and formal shoes.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must be a 10+2 pass or any equivalent exam in any stream, English compulsory subject. Those who have appeared for 10+2 in the current year and are waiting for results can also apply for the Entrance Exam. The admission will be confirmed only when they clear the board exam.

IHM Aurangabad scholarships are offered under two schemes to the meritorious and deserving students as listed below:

  • 100% scholarship: Under this scholarship scheme, the institute waives off 100 percent of the tuition fee. This scholarship is offered to only one student based on overall performance in the academics
  • 50% scholarship: Institute of Hotel Management Aurangabad offers this scholarship to four top-performing students in the form of 50 percent waive-off on the tuition fee

  1. What is the difference between the academics of IHM-A and the other Govt. IHMs
    Academics at IHM-A is very different from the other government colleges as it focuses on teaching a student every aspect of the hospitality industry. At IHM-A students are taught how to run their own establishment, manage an event and at the same look into the finance, sales and marketing aspect as well. It is the holistic development of a student to make him/her a skilled professional in the industry.
  2. What is the difference between a BHMCT course and IHM-A?
    IHM-A offers a 4-year degree and is affiliated with the University of Huddersfield. The college is supported by Taj and the students are placed in various successful companies.
  3. In the admission interview, can students communicate in Hindi?
    The English language would be preferred.
  4. Is the faculty friendly and fun going?
    The IHM-A faculty is very knowledgeable and easily approachable at the same time. Students can approach their class representatives to get in touch with the faculty.
  5. Do students get Placement?

Covid -19 or Post Pandemic related Questions:

  1. What will be the quarantine process for the students coming from abroad?  Will they be quarantined in the city where they will be landing or they will be taking connecting flights to Aurangabad and then will be quarantined there?
    Students traveling from abroad would need to follow all protocols mandated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, which currently includes self-paid institutional quarantine at the city of entry, followed by an RTPCR test.

    Students traveling to Aurangabad post quarantine will have to produce the RTPCR test result on arrival. As per the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation, no quarantine would be required for students traveling with a negative RTPCR report.
     
  2. Will the local students be allowed for the classes? What will be the protocols applicable to local students?
    Local students will be allowed for classes after submitting their RTPCR test results. The institute will monitor temperature and oxygen levels on campus entry.

    It is the student’s responsibility to wear a mask, maintain social distancing, wash/sanitize hands regularly, and follow all designated protocols.
     
  3. Will there be a  quarantine period for interstate arrivals at  Aurangabad?  Will the students be allowed to go out of the hostel after their quarantine period?
    As per the Aurangabad Municipal  Corporation, no quarantine would be required for students traveling with a negative RTPCR report.

    Students will have to adhere to all Covid-19 protocols mandated by the GoI, GoM, AMC, and the institute while on campus or in any public area.
     
  4. Can the students come early and collect their baggage from the hostel as they have concerns about cleaning?
    Luggage will be disinfected and will be handed over to the students on arrival. Students must collect their luggage from the designated area as per instructions from the hostel warden on duty while maintaining social distancing and hygiene/sanitation norms.
     
  5. How will the hostel rooms be allotted?
    Rooms will be allotted to students by the hostel administration on a first-come-first-served basis. Students will also be responsible for the upkeep and hygiene standards of the rooms though housekeeping and sanitization support will be provided by the institute.
     
  6. Will the ACs in hostel rooms be functional during summer?
    ACs in the hostel rooms will be functional during the summer months. Students will be required to take appropriate care of the ACs provided. Covid-19 temperature control protocols will apply.
     
  7. The college has support staff (chefs, cleaners, guards, drivers, etc.) apart from teaching and administrative staff that do not live within the premises of the institute. How does the institute plan to ensure that the aforementioned will not be asymptomatic carriers of the coronavirus at some point in time?
    RTPCR  tests prior to student arrival will be conducted for all support staff,  teaching, and administrative staff, they will follow all AMC cited protocols. Daily monitoring of temperature and oxygen will be carried out for all staff/students, and strict adherence to social distancing norms, wearing of masks and personal hygiene will be mandated.
     
  8. How will the OJT for students of Year 2 be planned?
    OJT will be planned by dividing students into two groups decided by the Institute. Details of the schedule will be shared with students by the OJT coordinators closer to date.
     
  9. Will the entire group be called in together or will the class be divided into groups?
    Though students of Year 2 & 3 will be on campus together, classroom sessions will be conducted in line with all social distancing norms. It will be students’ responsibility to wear masks at all times while maintaining social distancing, and washing/sanitizing their hands regularly.
     
  10. Is there any possibility to complete the year online without coming to college?
    The  University of  Huddersfield,  UK,  does not allow a  year-long online delivery of academic sessions. Students need to complete all academic commitments in line with the requirement of the University to earn the required academic credits.
     
  11. How will social distancing and sanitation be put into practice in the hostels, the bathrooms, the cafeteria, and the classrooms?
    All public areas will be sanitized twice a day. Sanitizer dispensing units will be available in common areas on all floors of the hostel and institute. Students will be responsible to follow all social distancing and sanitization norms while wearing personal masks at all times and carrying a personal sanitizer.
     
  12. How is the Institute planning to conduct the exams this year?
    The exams will be conducted as per prevalent  University guidelines and local government protocols depending on the situation closer to date. Students will be responsible for the timely submission of assignments as per the submission guidelines provided by the Module Tutors.
     
  13. If a student contracts Covid-19 infection, what measures will the institute take to quarantine the student and give prompt medication?  What precautions would be taken for others on campus, including quarantine and overall sanitization?
    In case a student contracts an infection, the institute will consult the District Health Officer and follow quarantine advice, in consultation with parents/guardians. Students must immediately report any symptoms or discomfort experienced by self or fellow students to the hostel warden for timely action.
     
  14. In spite of having done a Covid-19 test 48 hrs before travel and testing negative for it, what if students contract the infection while travelling to Aurangabad? (Many students could be traveling changing more than one flight) will there be testing on arrival too?
    Students need to take all precautions while traveling to  Aurangabad,  following all mandated protocols.  Students need to carry the RTPCR test report to be shown on arrival in Aurangabad. The local administration currently does not require any tests to be conducted if a traveler is carrying a negative RTPCR test report.
     
  15. Is there a procedure for students to get vaccinated?
    The Institute will follow all Government guidelines in regards to vaccination. Students may get vaccinated in their city of domicile if access to vaccination is available before the travel date.
     
  16. In case a parent is not comfortable with the proposed plan of face-to-face classes, what option will be offered to that student? Will online classes still continue?
    The University of Huddersfield, UK, mandates face-to-face classes to progress to the next level. Online classes will continue until face-to-face classes are regularized.
